Rep. Ilhan Omar Endorsed by 10 Additional Minnesota Officials
Endorsements include Steve Fletcher, Phillipe Cunningham, Erin Koegel, Samantha Vang, Sandra Feist, Sydney Jordan, Kimberly Caprini, Mayor Maria Reagan Gonzalez, Tim Brausen
MINNEAPOLIS—Today, Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-05) announced ten additional endorsements for her reelection campaign, including Richfield Mayor Maria Reagan Gonzalez, State Reps. Sydney Jordan, Erin Koegel, Samantha Vang, Minneapolis Councilmembers Steve Fletcher and Phillipe Cunningham, St. Louis Park Councilmember Tim Brausen, Sandra Feist, and Kimberly Caprini. This brings her total number of endorsements to 51, representing all corners of the 5th District of Minnesota, in addition to over two dozen endorsements from local, statewide, and national organizations. Earlier this week, Rep. Omar joined with local officials to call for bold policies to address systemic racism in Minnesota.
“As someone who has organized and advocated for bold progressive change in Minnesota for years, I am honored to have the continued support of the people doing the work on the ground. Whether on housing, healthcare, or environmental protectionI believe in cogovernance, and have been honored to work closely with the state legislators, Mayors, and city officials who are fighting for bold ideas in their communities,” Rep. Omar said.
Having worked alongside Ilhan Omar for years, I’m proud to endorse her for Congress,” Rep. Jordan said. “I know she is the young, progressive visionary we need demanding powerful policies to meet our climate and environmental crises head-on. Between her work on the Green New Deal, supporting permanent protection for the Boundary Waters, pushing to dismantle environmental racism, and constantly standing up to Trump’s assaults on clean air and water, Ilhan is the fierce and inspiring voice we need in the halls of power.”
“As a lifelong organizer, Congresswoman Omar has always been committed to fighting for people without a seat at the table,” Mayor Regan Gonzalez said. “As a legislator, she has a record of getting things done. She’s a fierce and tireless advocate for all Minnesotans and has never wavered on her principles or vision. I am proud to stand with her and help break down barriers for women of color. Help me support and re-elect Congresswoman Ilhan Omar”
About Ilhan Omar: In 2018, Ilhan was elected to Congress representing the Fifth Congressional District of Minnesota.
