Rep. Ilhan Omar Statement on Death in Minneapolis Police Custody
MINNEAPOLIS—Rep. Ilhan Omar released the following statement after video footage showed an unarmed black men dying in police custody in South Minneapolis.
“It is sickening to watch this black man be killed while helplessly begging for help.
“Black lives matter isn’t just a chant, it’s a call for justice. It’s a call for our humanity to be recognized.
“This must stop.
“There needs to be an immediate Department of Justice investigation into this.”
